Creating Moments of Joy: Program 1
In this presentation, you'll be sure to catch the vision. A vision that we will soon look beyond the challenges of Alzheimer's disease and focus more of our energy on creating moments of joy. It's impossible to create a perfectly wonderful day, but you sure can create perfectly wonderful moments. Joy comes from triggering fond childhood memories, making quality connections, living a person's truth, singing a favorite song, replacing personal treasures, remembering peoples' greatness, sharing simple pleasures and reviving their spirits. Catch the speaker's energy and obtain fun, simple ways to bring joy and hope into everyday.
Memory Enhanced Activity: Program 2
As this presentation unfolds, you'll see that even though we cannot give those with Alzheimer's back their memories, we can give them experiences that trigger their whole memory about how to do something. They may not understand what you are saying, but they are more likely to understand what they see, touch, smell and hear. Learn ways to trigger memories by giving them their "stuff" back. It's not about the big things we do. It's about the simple pleasures we share everyday. It's Saturday Night!: Program 3
There is a reason why people with dementia do not like the bathing process and we will address what some of the reasons are and brainstorm in search of a new understanding. This understanding will help us reduce negative reactions by changing the way we approach the bathing process. Answering the questions of when, where, and how the person has always taken a bath will help offer more familiarity during the bathing process. Lastly pass on practical solutions that have worked for other care providers.Creating a Safe Haven: Program 4
Discover how to create an environment that enhances a sense of comfort. We will address physical changes that will enable the person's independence and decrease disorientation. By adding significant, familiar items, we can create stimulating journeys down a hallway, create safe havens within their rooms, and make common areas look, feel and smell like a kitchen, a living room, a dining room from their childhood. This combination of elements will help a person with person with Alzheimer's find greater peace in their environment.Enhancing the Dining Experience: Program 5
Mealtimes are often highlights of the day yet can be the most stressful times. This presentation shares activities, verbal and visual cues, to trigger the eating experience. Find out the many reasons why a person may not be eating and gain solutions to enhance mealtimes. Restore the pleasure of dining to those who need it most.Family Moments: Program 6
This presentation opens new doors in the journey with Alzheimer's. You'll see that families have the knowledge to build a bridge between the care provider, and the person with Alzheimer's. Families can share missing details, create links to a person's mind, and assist in giving back their greatness. The upbeat speaker educates families about how to move, what to move, how to visit and what to expect. Once families understand dementia and how to apply the knowledge they hold, they can become "helpers" in the disease process. Creating a solid foundation is an opportunity to get everyone started on the right foot.
